Wang Xinlun graduated in Chinese painting from Department of Fine Arts of Anhui Normal University and allocated to Department of Fine Arts of Huaibei Coal Normal University in Anhui to teach art in 1985. In 1996, he was transferred to Department of Fine Arts of College of Art Education of Jimei University. In 1997, he entered Department of Traditional Chinese painting of China Academy of Art for further study. In 1998 he was enrolled into graduate class of Chinese figure painting of China Academy of Art and completed the course in 2000. In 2004, he visited and studied at Department of Traditional Chinese painting of China Central Academy of Fine Arts. During 2010 ~ 2012, he became a visiting scholar of Feng Yuan Studio of China National Academy of Painting.

He is a professor of College of Fine Arts of Jimei University, a member of Chinese Artists Association, Vice-President of Fujian Artists Association, Executive Deputy Director of Chinese Figure Painting Committee of Fujian Artists Association, President of Xiamen Artists Association and a seminar supervisor of College of Fine Arts of Tsinghua University.
